Join us for a conversation with Jessica “Jess” Nava, Chief Growth Officer for The Moxie Exchange. As an executive in technology for over 23 years, she has often been the only woman in the room. She learned that being the “only” often made her invisible and realized that she needed to do things differently to be seen. She needed to own her voice by speaking up to ensure her ideas and perspectives were heard and included. A big part of that awareness came from understanding the importance of representation, which is where there is diversity across levels and roles within an organization so there is a mix of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences that inform decision-making and workplace practices day to day.
But what do you do when you are not a member of a marginalized group yet underrepresented in the workplace? Jess learned that she needed to show up differently, sharing her intersectional identity more openly. Owning her own voice meant bringing invisible dimensions of her identity, which included race, language, and culture, into D&I discussions and initiatives. This experience ignited her passion to be an advocate in the DEIB space and to empower people to integrate inclusion and belonging in their day to day. Join us to learn more about how to activate DEIB within yourself and across organizations by bringing your voice to the conversation.
